What is a verified draw?
Using the original draw data and the draw seed, you can reproduce the draw and verify the result. Unipicker's verified-draw feature checks whether the result reproduced afterward matches the originally announced result.
Who runs it
When Unipicker runs a verified draw
Unipicker can run a verified draw at the request of an organizer, or in response to a legal process or a request for cooperation from an investigative agency.
Ledger draws and draws with a unique certification code — by agreement with the organizerIf an entrant questions whether a draw was run fairly and asks the organizer for a verified draw, and the entrant and organizer agree, Unipicker receives the original data from the organizer, runs the verified draw (paid), and delivers the result to both the entrant and the organizer.
Manager-run and public draws — run right away from retained dataThe complainant and organizer can agree to request a verified draw from Unipicker, or the complainant can submit a "Draw Data Disclosure Request" to Unipicker. Unipicker reviews the matter with the organizer, informs them whether the data will be provided, and if disclosure is approved, runs the verified draw immediately using the retained draw data (2 years).

How sealing enables verification
Why can this be verified?
The moment a draw starts, the entire entrant list and draw settings are fed into a hash function to produce a single sealed value, which is published to the ledger first. A hash function has the property that changing even a single character of the original data produces a completely different value, so if anyone later reorders the entrant list or edits a single name, the resulting hash comes out completely different from the originally published seal.
The original entrant list may contain personal information, so it isn't data anyone can download and verify directly. Unipicker itself doesn't retain the original data unless it was a manager-run draw (CERT-UNI · CERT-PUB). So actual verification happens through a defined process where Unipicker runs the verified draw on your behalf.
